No, serija 8xxxx najbrž ni prav poceni.
Po drugi strani pa spet ne pomnim, kdaj sem videl kje kak 4-socket Xeon.
Po tretji pa se 4-S Xeoni dobijo, a zanej na AMDjevi strani še vedno rabiš najdražje 8xxx Optyje.
Po četrti pa ima pri AMDju vsak node svoj dostop do RAM-a.
Po peti pa še vedno ima počasne HT linke in če gre za kak test z intenzivno komunikacijo, si v ri*i.
Veliko strani, vsaka s svojimi enačbami.
Po drugi strani pa spet ne pomnim, kdaj sem videl kje kak 4-socket Xeon.

Kot rečeno en test je boljši en slabši, vprašanje kako je z zmogljivostjo resničnih aplikacij.
Pri strežnikih je praktično najpomembnejši kazalnik učinkovitost oz. zmogljivost na Watt. Se ne strinjam čisto- smo računali kako hitro se ti povrne 50W manj porabe pri procesorju ki košta 1000€ več (20 let se mi zdi da je bila cifra pri ceni 0.09€ kWh! Tako da dražja in slabše pa čeprav porabi manj nima ekonomske računice!

Primerjava cen namiznih (i7) in strežniških (Opteron) CPU-jev je tej zadevi še najbolj nesmiselna. Račun razlika v ceni:razlika v porabi tako ne drži vode.

Stvar je sledeca. Na ta racunalnik bi priklopil CRT TV in CRT monitor. Sele dons sm se spomnil, da nobena od teh plat nima S-video izhoda.
M3N-H/HDMI sploh nima analognega izhoda, M3N78-EM pa ima d-sub, nevem pa koliko si lahko s tem pomagam.
Res bi si rad nabavil AMD sistem, ker je Nvidia 8300 veliko boljsi od Intelovega G45 in veliko bolsi in cenejsi od AMDjevih resitev.
Tko da, ce ni nic uporabnega, bom verjetno vseeno nabavil G45, ker ze imam en odvecni procesor (E2160).

Sem imel AMD sistem, ko si ti se v plenice sral. In se vedno imam enega in rad bi se enega kupu, ce ti se tista mozganska celica ni dojela.

Te plate bodo podpirale le tistih par 45mn procesorjev, ki bodo na AM2+. Ne vem, od kje si ti to potegnil, da je kodrkoli kaj govoril, da 45nm ne bo delal na AM2+? Rečeno je bilo samo, da bo izbira 45mn procev za AM2+ bolj kot ne bedna.

According to AMD's latest roadmaps, 45nm Phenom II processors are just a few weeks away from launch—they'll materialize at the Consumer Electronic Show in early January. Not a bad time to start gauging the overclocking potential of these chips, right?
AMD took care of that itself at an event in Austin this morning, where it showcased four overclocked Phenom II systems. TR editor-in-chief Scott Wasson was on the scene, and while AMD didn't allow attendees to take pictures, he jotted down a few details.
The slowest system—cooled with a heatsink and fan—managed to reach just under 4GHz with a 1.55V core voltage. With liquid cooling, AMD successfully pushed a 45nm Phenom II in another machine just over the 4GHz mark. That required kicking up the CPU voltage to 1.6V, however. For the other two systems, AMD took out the big guns. One was strapped to a phase-change cooler and reached the mid-4GHz range at 1.7V, while the fastest system managed to break the 6GHz barrier using liquid nitrogen (which kept the core temperature down to a chilly -185°C).
Considering the latest leaked roadmaps suggest the fastest Phenom II launch CPU will run at 3GHz, those are pretty decent overclocks. We should note that AMD was using Crysis to test stability, however, and that only stresses a couple of cores at best.

Če je bilo jedro pri minus 185 stopinjah, zadeva ni obratovala. Tako nizko namreč ne gredo niti najboljši Intel CPUji, za katere je znano, da gredo PRECEJ nižje od AMDjevih. Seveda to ne velja za Nehaleme, ki se ustavijo precej kmalu, tam nekje kot A64. Problem je nameč IMC.

Na teh GIGABYTE platah AM2+ bodo delovali tudi AM3 cpu ji. ...
AM3 CPU-ji bodo pač združljivi z AM2+, to jaz na tem forumu razlagam že par mesecev. Delali bodo na praktično vseh platah, nisem opazil, da bi kakšen proizvajalec kaj izpustil. To je tudi AMD-jevo uradno stališče od kar so začeli govoriti o Denebu. Vmes so se na nekih kitajskih (strojno prevedenih) forumih pojavljale določene zmedene interpretacije in je po tem nastala cela panika (AMD nas bo spet zaj...).
Delali naj bi celo na starih AM2, brez plusa, čeprav je vprašljiva smiselnost take nadgradnja, saj sta tam HT in RAM dve generaciji zadaj.

Seveda se Intelu verjame, ker dejansko lahko vidimo POTRJENA stabilna navitja 4GHz+ na zraku. Koliko potrjenih stabilnih navitji 4GHz+, ki lahko delujejo 24h/dan pa lahko vidimo pri AMDju?
Aja pa CPU-Z slikca ne pove prav nič o stabilnosti. Jaz tudi lahko naredim a svojim X2 CPU-Z slikco pri 3,2GHz, stabilen pa je le do 2,81GHz

Meni je na SB750 plati uspelo naviti 9950tko na 3.4GHz ne ravno trivialno in ne ravno stabilno in to novi, 125W model.
Nihče drugi tu ni poročal o čem boljšem, zato domnevam,d a je to vsaj zaenkrat najboljši rezultat na ST.
Če je tako, je razlika med tvojimi in mojimi rezultati očitna.
Glede na to se ne bi preveč ogreval nad tistimi 4GHz.
In BTW, zakaj bi sploh kdo šel v to ? QC so že tako deklarirani za ne ravno majhno moč.
Zakaj bi jih šel navijat za tistih do 30% in s tem žrtvoval praktično vse živo, pridobil pa nič pametnega ?
Ne mi reč, da vsi laufate jedrske simulacije, za katere je kvečjemu 4+ GHz ok...

Although Intel Corp.’s initial Core i7 lineup includes a central processing unit that sells below $300, the new microprocessor family may never become mainstream, at least, based on Intel’s plans. Apparently, the quad-core Core i7 will have a tiny share among Intel’s desktop shipments even in three quarters from now.
According to Intel’s plans that X-bit labs has learnt, Intel pushes its highest-performing Core i7 chips based on Nehalem micro-architecture only into personal computers aimed at consumers. But even on that market Intel has no plans to be really aggressive with promotion of the new platform or flood the market with processors, while reducing the supplies of existing Intel Core 2 Quad central processing units (CPUs).
The share of Intel Core i7 chips is expected to be below 1% of all microprocessors that Intel will ship in Q4 2008, slides from certain product planning documents claim. Moreover, the proportion of Core i7 chips will hardly rise above 3% even in Q2 2009. In fact, even in the third quarter of next year, when Intel releases the first mainstream market-oriented Nehalem-based quad-core chip code-named Lynnfield, the share of Core i7-based platforms is projected to be below 5% of all CPUs sold by Intel.
The comparatively slow adoption rate of a new microprocessor design may be easily explained by the fact that Intel Core i7 chips require a completely new infrastructure: new core-logic sets, new mainboards, new sockets, cooling systems and so on, which is why system integrators might not demand rapid transition. In fact, since Lynnfield will use different infrastructure and code-named Ibex Peak core-logic compared to currently-shipping Core i7/Bloomfield (which is supported by Intel X58-based mainboards), its adoption rate may also not be fast.
Transitions to new micro-architectures along with new infrastructures have never been rapid neither for Intel nor its smaller rival Advanced Micro Devices. This time is not an exception, but gloomy economic outlook may further slowdown adoption of Intel’s Nehalem.
Officials from Intel did not comment on the news-story.
