Fred Arthur Leuchter Jr. (born February 7, 1943) is an American manufacturer of execution equipment and Holocaust denier, best known as the author of the Leuchter report, a pseudoscientific document[2] alleging there were no gas chambers at Auschwitz-Birkenau. Prior to the document's publication, he was contracted by authorities of several U.S. states to improve the designs of instruments for capital punishment. He was charged in Massachusetts with misrepresenting himself to penitentiaries as an engineer, despite having no relevant qualifications. He plea bargained with state prosecutors and received two years' probation. He has also been accused of running a "death row shakedown", where he threatened to testify for the defense in capital cases if he was not given contracts for his services by that state.

Leuchter's work is often presented by Holocaust deniers as scientifically based evidence for Holocaust denial, even though his research methods and findings have been widely discredited on both scientific and historical grounds. Leuchter and his report are the subject of Mr. Death: The Rise and Fall of Fred A. Leuchter, Jr., a 1999 feature-length documentary film by Errol Morris.

Fedayeen Saddam was an Iraqi Fedayeen paramilitary militia organization loyal to the Ba'athist regime of Saddam Hussein. The group's name means "Saddam's Men of Sacrifice". At its peak, they had 30,000 to 40,000 members. The Fedayeen operated outside the law and were not bound by any political structures.

The Fedayeen Saddam wore two uniforms, an all black one worn on operations and an all white one worn on parade. They also operated in plain clothes in order to confuse Coalition forces. A black Darth Vader style helmet was also worn by some of the black-uniformed Fedayeen, as Uday Hussein (commander of the Fedayeen and eldest son of Saddam) was reportedly an avid fan of Star Wars.

In 1996, Davis began experiencing regular manic episodes, some of which led to hospitalization. Initially diagnosed with bipolar disorder, he was later declared to have schizophrenia.

TempleOS (formerly J Operating System, LoseThos, and SparrowOS) is a biblical-themed lightweight operating system (OS) designed to be the Third Temple from the Hebrew Bible. It was created by American computer programmer Terry A. Davis, who developed it alone over the course of a decade after a series of manic episodes that he later described as a revelation from God.

The system was characterized as a modern x86-64 Commodore 64, using an interface similar to a mixture of DOS and Turbo C. Davis proclaimed that the system's features, such as its 640x480 resolution, 16-color display, and single-voice audio, were designed according to explicit instructions from God. It was programmed with a custom JIT variant of C (named HolyC) in place of BASIC, and included an original flight simulator, compiler, and kernel.

During his first trip to Washington and DC in 1994, Yeltsin got shitfaced and was seen on a city street outside the White House in nothing but his underwear. Secret Service agents would find him hailing a taxi and yelling, "For a pizza." They quietly would return him to his residence where guards mistook him for a drunken intruder. And on an official Moscow visit, Hillary Clinton once tried to keep her husband from drinking. Noting this, Yeltsin would instruct his staff to make private arrangements. He then took President Clinton to a Kremlin men's room where booze awaited them. Clinton and Yeltsin then returned noticeably tipsy. The two men became great friends over time, and they met 18 more times, more than any other American and Russian presidents. One of the most famous incidents, though, would occur on September 30th, 1994. This being when Yeltsin was scheduled for an official state visit to Ireland. Unfortunately, by the time he landed in Shannon Airport, he was too drunk to actually stand and his bodyguard would inform the pilots to begin circling the airport. After stalling for an hour circling the airport, the plane finally landed. Yeltsin's bodyguard and chief enabler then would inform the vice premier that he would have to conduct the visit in Yeltsin stead. Upon being told that Yeltsin was unwell, Irish Prime Minister Albert Reynolds would then state, quote, "Well, now if he is sick, there's nothing we can do about it. But Mr. Yeltsin is my guest on Irish soil, and I cannot miss the opportunity to go on board the plane for 5 minutes and shake the president's hand and wish him a speedy recovery." End quote. Russians immediately rejected this proposal, and Reynolds was forced to meet with the Russian vice premier in an impromptu meeting in the airport terminal. After the meeting, which was supposed to be an all-day visit, Yeltsin's plane then departed immediately. The Irish, also famous for their drinking culture, would take offense to the fact that Yeltsin didn't get off the plane and just explained that he was drunk, to which they would have excused. Instead, the story of Yeltsin being unwell and unreachable for even a handshake rubbed the Irish the wrong way. And the term "circling over Shannon" actually became a term used in Irish society to describe someone who had had too much to drink.


• A Lancet study conducted years later found that during the calamitous 1990s, alcohol was the single greatest factor in Russia's mortality crisis, claiming over 425,000 lives annually. On that date, Putin created a new company called Rosetrome, an acronym for Russian spirits industry to seize control of the means of vodka production.

Estimates on Russian women drinking during pregnancy puts that number at between 32% and 54%.
