TechCrunch - Večina uporabnikov (vsaj tisti z uradnim klientom v operacijskih sistemih Windows) Microsoftovega sistema za komunikacijo Messenger verjetno veste, da se je uradni Microsoftov klient pred časom premaknil pod okrilje skupine Windows Live Essentials, v katero je Microsoft vključil še nekaj bonbončkov. Poleg Messengerja je mogoče namestiti tudi odjemalec elektronske pošte Mail, pripomoček za urejanje slik Photo Gallery, znotraj paketa je Microsoftov Movie Maker, namestit pa je mogoče še orodno vrstico za brskalnik.
Prav Photo Gallery in Movie Maker sta tokrat deležna največjih sprememb. V Movie Makerju je zdaj lažje ustvarjanje animacij iz video posnetkov in slik, dodanih je več stilov prehodov, videoposnetku pa je očitno po novem mogoče dodati še tekst in glasbo.
Photo Gallery je že prej podpiral prepoznavanje obrazov, ki jih je bilo mogoče označiti z imenom osebe na sliki, kar je olajšalo sortiranje in iskanje po slikah. Zdaj je mogoče naložiti slike iz galerije na Facebook z enim klikom, podobno pa velja tudi za Flickr, YouTube (morda le za videoposnetke?), Microsoftov SkyDrive in za spletni profil uporabnika storitev Live. Prepoznavanje obrazov je razširjeno, saj program sam ugiba, katera oseba se nahaja na sliki. Dodali so še Photo Fuze, ki vam z le nekaj enostavnimi koraki omogoči izdelati kolaž iz več manj uspešnih slik, kjer je rezultat odlična slika brez zaprtih oči in pogledov, zasanjanih v daljavo.
Movie Maker je že v paketu Windows Live 2009 zgledal kot novi Microsoft Office 2010. Tudi v tem Movie Makerju se že da dodati glasbo, namesto zvoka videa ter dodati napis na video.
Jaz sem včasih uporabljal (ko sem se začel učit) Windows movie maker in windows movie maker 2, ki je podpiral dodajanje glasbe in teksta v filme. Tudi tranzicije.

The updated agreement will take effect on October 19, 2012. If you continue to use our services after October 19th, you agree to the terms of the new agreement or, of course you can cancel your service at any time.
We have modified the agreement to make it easier to read and understand, including using a question and answer format that we believe makes the terms much clearer. We also clarified how Microsoft uses your content to better protect consumers and improve our products, including aligning our usage to the way we're designing our cloud services to be highly integrated across many Microsoft products. We realize you may have personal conversations and store personal files using our products, and we want you to know that we prioritize your privacy.
Finally, we have added a binding arbitration clause and class action waiver that affects how disputes with Microsoft will be resolved in the United States.
