The long-awaited ATI Technologies code-named R300

Reactor Critical:Can you give us a snip about the timeframes of introduction of your code-named R300 solution, please?

Pierre Laine: Well, we will launch the R300 as soon as Microsoft launches its DirectX 9.

Reactor Critical:Do you mean that the product is on the stage when it can be introduced?

Pierre Laine: All I can say that it is close [smiling]. But we will be here with the release at the time of DirectX 9.

Reactor Critical:Maybe you can give us some alludes about the R300?

Pierre Laine: Well, it will be powerful. It will be a lot more powerful compared to the RADEON 8500. As is known, we doubled the complexity and performance of our GPU with the latest new family If you remember the gap between the original RADEON, you can expect the same between the RADEON 8500 and R300. On the graphics side, it will be a huge step forward.
