Ampak vem, da ni veliko ljudi, ki si lahko vzamejo toliko časa.
Drama se nadaljuje.
Manjkajo detajli, ampak kar se zaenkrat približno ve. Predsednik ZDA je nekemu drugemu voditelju dal obljubo, ki je anonimnega žvižgača spodbudila k žvižganju. Zdaj imamo pa situacijo med DNI, ki brani predsednika in IC ter njihovimi kongresnimi nadzorniki na drugi strani. Več v naslednjih tednih.

We don’t know what the “promise” was yet or who the foreign leader is. We don’t know a lot about the substance. But we do know p firmly that the Trump administration’s reaction was to panic, call in a fixer from DOJ, and contort the whistleblower law to keep it all secret.
What the admin could have done is let the whistleblower process happen according to law and then addressed the substance of the matter. But they lack confidence they can win playing fair, so they immediately resort to bending and breaking the laws. That’s what worries me most.

An attorney who left the CIA in 2014 after facing professional retaliation for trying to work with intelligence community whistleblowers is now representing the U.S. official who reportedly filed a complaint alleging wrongdoing by President Trump.
Andrew Bakaj, a national security attorney working for Compass Rose Legal Group, a Washington national security law firm, has taken on the still unidentified whistleblower as his newest client, according to information first reported by the New York Times and confirmed by Yahoo News.

While little is known about the anonymous official who made the allegation, Bakaj himself became a whistleblower in 2014, a fact revealed in a recent story by Yahoo News. Bakaj had reported reported his colleagues’ concerns about evidence tampering within the CIA watchdog office to the Intelligence Community Inspector General. That office, after reviewing the concerns, immediately referred them to the FBI.
The CIA, however, put Bakaj on indefinite administrative leave and suspended his security clearance. As he was walked out of the office, security personnel put yellow police tape on his office door and combination locks.
After months of waiting, Bakaj decided to leave government and enter private practice focusing on other national security whistleblowers.
On Aug. 8, more than five years after first blowing the whistle, the Department of Homeland Security inspector general vindicated Bakaj, confirming that his superiors launched a “retaliatory investigation” into his activities because of his actions and his protection of colleagues.
Bakaj’s case reverberated after he left the CIA. In July 2018, acting CIA Inspector General Christopher Sharpley withdrew his nomination and resigned from the CIA following revelations that he had misled Congress about ongoing complaints of retaliation against him by Bakaj and his former colleague Jonathan Kaplan.

Bakaj authored the regulations the CIA is required to follow to comply with President Barack Obama’s Presidential Policy Directive 19, designed to protect intelligence community whistleblowers with access to classified information.

If Trump promised foreign aid to Ukraine in exchange for investigating Biden's son, that is obviously corrupt and should meet any definition of a "high crime" for impeachment.
It's also "bribery" as commonly understood, but I'm not sure it fits the federal bribery statute. The bribery statute is all about bribing public officials *in the United States*, and defines public officials in that fashion. (You can check out the definition yourself, below.) So I disagree with legal analysts who cite that statute.

Americans will comply with the law. It will be a mandatory buyback of AR-15 and AK-47s, weapons designed for war. Because we understand that theres no reason for a any of us to own a weapon that was designed to kill people on a battlefield. Especially when that kind of weapon is so often used to kill and terrorize people throughout this country — in their schools, in their grocery stores, in their churches, in their synagogues, at concerts... everywhere. I have met countless AR and AK owners who say they don’t need it to hunt, they don’t need it for self defense, it’s fun to shoot but would give it up. Because they also have kids and grandkids and want them to be safe.

You are just another politician who has no idea how firearms work, and how to actually look up the facts on gun violence. Instead of going at people's heartstrings and trying to strip rights, how about putting some thought into it, and bring up some actual proposals. Proposals that are rooted in reality.

There are about 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, this number is not disputed. (1)
U.S. population 328 million as of January 2018. (2)
Do the math: 0.00915% of the population dies from gun related actions each year.
Statistically speaking, this is insignificant. It's not even a rounding error.
What is not insignificant, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths:
22,938 (76%) are by suicide which can't be prevented by gun laws (3)
987 (3%) are by law enforcement, thus not relevant to Gun Control discussion. (4)
489 (2%) are accidental (5)
So no, "gun violence" isn't 30,000 annually, but rather 5,577... 0.0017% of the population.
Still too many? Let's look at location:
298 (5%) - St Louis, MO (6)
327 (6%) - Detroit, MI (6)
328 (6%) - Baltimore, MD (6)
764 (14%) - Chicago, IL (6)
That's over 30% of all gun crime. In just 4 cities.
This leaves 3,856 for for everywhere else in America... about 77 deaths per state. Obviously some States have higher rates than others
Yes, 5,577 is absolutely horrific, but let's think for a minute...
But what about other deaths each year?
70,000+ die from a drug overdose (7)
49,000 people die per year from the flu (8)
37,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities (9)
Now it gets interesting:
250,000+ people die each year from preventable medical errors. (10)
You are safer in Chicago than when you are in a hospital!
610,000 people die per year from heart disease (11)
Even a 10% decrease in cardiac deaths would save about twice the number of lives annually of all gun-related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.).
A 10% reduction in medical errors would be 66% of the total gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides.
Simple, easily preventable, 10% reductions!
We don't have a gun problem... We have a political agenda and media sensationalism problem.

I believe deeply that most people are better than their worst behaviors. I also believe there are some who are simply irredeemable and evil. Scott Peck called them "People of the Lie." They lack any conscience, as Trump does, and so they're almost purely evil. Trump is the most purely evil human being I've ever met, and also the most insecure.
I believe Trump is a racist. He considers black people, and Hispanics, and Muslims, and women, among others, inferior.

Another Fake News story out there - It never ends! Virtually anytime I speak on the phone to a foreign leader, I understand that there may be many people listening from various U.S. agencies, not to mention those from the other country itself. No problem!....Knowing all of this, is anybody dumb enough to believe that I would say something inappropriate with a foreign leader while on such a potentially “heavily populated” call. I would only do what is right anyway, and only do good for the USA!

Just to put this nonsense to complete rest: As an intelligence officer detailed to the White House, I listened to more of President Obama’s calls than I can honestly remember. It is the job of certain parts of the NSC to coordinate the calls and yes, make transcripts.
That’s why I joke around about having spoken to Angela Merkel, Bibi, Renzi, and Putin. The first voice those world leaders hear on head of state calls is often the voice of an intelligence officer or military person who keeps them occupied until POTUS comes to the line. POTUS also hear’s this person on the call as they introduce the leaders to each other. Then they shut up and take notes. Those notes are disseminated according to the lists required by the AP/NSA and then preserved in accordance with the presidential records act.
I have no knowledge of how the whistle blower obtained the information, but I wouldn’t at all be surprised to find out it was someone just like me doing their job as required by the president’s own advisors.
