Požrešni Win7 na disku.

Nekaj dni nazaj sem na PC naložil sveže Win7 64bit. Naložil sem jih na SSD drive (120GB) na mašini z 16GB RAM-a. Folderje MyDocuments, MyPictures, Downloads in podobno sem prestavil na sekundarne diske v mašini da bi obdržal karseda veliko prostega prostora. Ampak so se mi Winsi razširili po disku kot albanska industrija.
Včeraj oz dva dni nazaj sem gledal free space. Okoli 10GB. Danes pogledam in vidim 6.5GB free. Pa nisem nobenega novega programa inštaliral. Ništa. Od kje za hudiča mi sistem pobira toliko prostora? In če označim vse mape na C: mi sistem izračuna 45GB zasedenega prostora. Kaj se dogaja? Mi lahko kdo razloži?

No, pri tolko rama sem page file zmanjšal na max 4GB. In trenutno je prostor poskočil iz 6,5GB na 21,5GB. But still 21,5 + 45 =/= 120GB??

Izklopi System Restore na vseh diskih, požre lahko do 10% kapacitete diska (odvino od nastavitve), zbriši vsebino TEMP mape, clean disk zaženi...itd.

Načeloma to najbolj pomaga, če gredo windowsi čez vse meje. Pri meni je bilo ravnokar za 25GB system information files.
V zadnjem mesecu je bil update zelo dejaven.
In start search type Advanced and select View Advanced System Settings
Select the System Protection tab
select the drive that as too much space wasted and select configure.
Adjust the max usage, this should take care of both system restore and shadow copies for you.
This will reduce the number of files or restore states you can have, so it is a balance of space vs longer term protection.

Windowsi so tudi meni veliko updejtov delali. In sem šel preverit in zbrisal shadow kopije system restora. Se ne čudim da ni blo placa če je bilo pa tudi tu rezervacije prostora za 55GB. Ko sem počistil kopije ima kar naenkrat dobrih 50GB frej placa. Enostavno nimam več časa da bi se šel inženirja na Windowsih. Ti časi so minili, tako da ste mi zelo pomagali s temi nasveti in dokazali, da nisem blesav ko sem opazil da mi je v enem dnevu izginilo 5GB placa, brez da bi kaj nalagal na PC :)

1. To see the space allocated and used for SVI:
- Open Command Prompt with "Run as Administrator" option
- Type in: vssadmin list shadowstorage
- You will see Used Space, Allocated Space and Maximum Space for SVI
2. To see the restore information stored therein:
- Use in the same console command: vssadmin list shadows
3. To resize the maximum allocated space:
- Type in command: vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=[here add the drive letter]: /For=[here add the drive letter]: /Maxsize=[here add the maximum size]
- E.g., vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=C: /For=C: /Maxsize=4GB
- You will see a prompt confirming resize done
- You can check the status again using the command discussed in point 1 above
4. Just to get rid of the space already consumed, but sticking to the same size of max-size as before:
- Do actions as per point 3 to set the max-size t, say, 1GB
- If you check now, most likely you'll see that used space is now 0KB
- Do the resize again and set it back to what it was before
- Check your disk space availability in Windows Explorer, you should see the reclaim is done!
