Belarus is losing billions of dollars in budget revenue as a result of Russia’s new energy tax system, which shifts the tax burden on oil products from their export to extraction. Minsk, which previously bought duty-free crude oil from Russia under their customs union and then re-exported it at a profit, claims that the new system violates the terms of the Eurasian Economic Union. Moscow, for its part, has adopted a fundamentally new position and has proposed deeper integration via the union state that the two countries entered into in the 1990s.
Given the difference in size and political weight of the two countries, this could only really mean the seamless engulfment of Belarus by Russia. But Belarussian, including the ruling elite, are used to their independence, and Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko equates sovereignty with authority. Accordingly, this idea has not been greeted with enthusiasm in Minsk.
...
But for the last six months, there has been a new Russian ambassador in Minsk, and he never misses an opportunity to take a shot in the rhetorical ping-pong.
When Babich, then a presidential plenipotentiary to Russia’s Volga federal district, was appointed ambassador to Belarus last year, Minsk was instantly wary of the former security services operative. Babich, who was Chechnya’s head of government during the second Chechen war, was previously made Russia’s ambassador to Ukraine in 2016, but Kiev rejected his appointment.
...
Now irritation inside the Belarussian Foreign Ministry, which was reportedly dead against Babich’s appointment, has reached boiling point. The ambassador’s criticism of Lukashenko was a convenient excuse for the ministry’s furious response. After all, even if they went a little overboard in their reaction, who’s going to rebuke them for an overly zealous defense of their president from an attack?
...
Babich isn’t afraid of damaging relations with Belarus, because Moscow has little to lose from upsetting Minsk. No one truly believes in Lukashenko’s apparent pivot toward the West. On the contrary, the thrust of the Russian position in the last few months has been: “if you don’t want to integrate with us, then pay your own way, look for cheap oil elsewhere, and let’s see how you get on.”
...
But for Lukashenko and his economic and political system, there really is no easy way out. Europe won’t welcome into its ranks an autocrat, and the economic shocks that would result from a sudden rupture with Russia are too terrible for the Belarussian leader to even contemplate.
For this reason, Minsk will strive with all its might to slow down this process, and hedge its bets along the way, while not giving up its sovereignty. Babich will obviously find it harder to work in Belarus in the foreseeable future, especially in his dealings with state bodies. But as far as everything else is concerned, the two sides are unlikely to exacerbate either the conflict surrounding the ambassador or the broader dispute over oil and integration.

še danes otepata Hrvaška in Srbija. Če pride ven karkoli o kakšnem skorumpiranem politiku, ta le zavpije: "Glejte, tam so sovražniki nacije!", in korupcija, kriminal ipd. postanejo drugorazredna tema.

Sergey Yurievich Glazyev (Russian: Серге́й Юрьевич Глазьев) (born January 1, 1961, in Zaporozhye, Ukrainian SSR, USSR) is a Russian politician and economist, advisor to the president of the Russian Federation on regional economic integration, member of the National Financial Council of the Bank of Russia, and, since 2008, a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The thing is, the entire crisis in Ukraine was orchestrated, provoked, and financed by American institutions in cooperation with their European partners. They financed neo-Nazis. For fifteen years, the U.S. and Europeans financed neo-Nazis’ training, their camps, and preparation. By U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland’s acknowledgement, the State Department spent $5 billion on the creation of an anti-Russian political and paramilitary elite. This work led to the sad situation that now in Ukraine neo-Nazi and neo-fascists ideas prevail, as does admiration for, more than anything, Stepan Bandera’s associates who in their time murdered Jews, Ukrainians, Russians, Poles, and whomever they wanted, burning or otherwise killing them under Nazi leadership. This is very dangerous. We do not understand why the U.S. and the American ambassador for many years and months systematically supported those neo-Nazi ideologies and even methodically trained their followers. Why did Ms. Nuland have to feed them cookies on the Maydan, thereby demonstrating the political and moral support of the United States.

Not so long ago, the ultranationalist broadsheet "Zavtra" would occasionally pillory Russian President Vladimir Putin for various sins.
But that all changed with Russia's annexation of Crimea and support for pro-Moscow separatists in eastern Ukraine.
"With Crimea joining [Russia], Putin suits us. Putin is even an inspiration to us,” says Andrei Fefelov, an editor at "Zavtra" and the son of the newspaper's founder, Aleksandr Prokhanov.
...
Following Yeltsin's bloody confrontation with hard-liners in the Russian parliament in October 1993, "Den" was shut down by the authorities. But it was soon resurrected as "Zavtra," with Prokhanov still at the helm. It continued to be a hotbed of the "red-brown" ideology, a fusion of nationalism, monarchism, and nostalgia for Soviet Communism.
...
Anton Shekhovtsov, a visiting fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences, describes "Zavtra" as "a fascist newspaper."

Two of the paper’s alumni, former staff writer Aleksandr Borodai and contributor Igor Girkin, took up leading positions in the Russia-backed separatist campaign against Kyiv.

At least 10 million people were forced to leave Ukraine occupied by pro-American neo-Nazis. And these are its best citizens: engineers, scientists, doctors - the productive elite of the people. And its gene pool - beautiful girls and strong boys, used today as slaves in the European Union. And those who made the “European choice” for them, seized the institutions of state power, jumping from uneducated Gopniks to the “noble lords”: deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, heads of state-owned enterprises and power structures, profit from plundering the remaining “sovereign lane”. Finally, ideological losses. What the German fascists failed to do by force, trying to turn the people of occupied Ukraine into Bandera, the American curators managed to do by brainwashing, turning hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian children into distraught cannon fodder, voluntarily enrolling in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to kill their own brothers.
...
Probably, they will set new tasks for the updated Kiev regime. I do not exclude, for example, the possibility of a massive move to the “cleared out” of the Russian population of the land of the South-East of Ukraine by the inhabitants of the Promised Land tired of the permanent war in the Middle East - just like the Christians fleeing from Islamizing Europe.

Apparently two Czech men died fighting in the DNR in December 2014 -- anyone know more about which outfit these guys were fighting with?
I don't remember seeing them with any of the Limonovtsy or Kurginyan groups, which is where a big chunk of the non-Russian foreigners end up.
And, as always, @666_mancer immediately knows the answer:
And looks like they probably died in August 2014, not December, so plenty to straighten out.
I have seen them described as fighting with the "Pyatnashka" International Brigade, and one article referenced Ivo Stejskal as fighting with Batallion Vostok.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/...
With the 2 May anniversary just days away, 12 people linked to pro-Russia groups were arrested in an anti-terrorist operation on Wednesday, according to security services. Those detained reportedly included the mother of pro-Russia leaders Artyom and Anton Davidchenko, who fled Ukraine last year, as well as a local pro-Russia journalist.
None of the pro-Ukraine activists have been put on trial for the events that led to the deaths in the Trade Unions building. The slow progress and incompetence of the official investigation was probably attributable to a general feeling of guilt as well as a desire to shield influential figures in Kiev, according to journalist Konstantinov.

“We decided we’re going to #Europe. But Europe isn’t somewhere there. Europe is here,” he said, pointing to his head. He says “I don’t want my portraits in offices because the president is not an icon” he calls on officials to hang pictures of their kids instead and “look them in the eyes” each time they take a decision.
“I’m disbanding Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the eighth convocation” Zelensky announces in his inaugural speech.
He says for years he worked to make ukrainians smile. “For the next five years I will do my best to make sure you don’t cry”. End of speech
Minister of Defense of Ukraine Poltorak has resigned
#SBU chief Hrytsak tenders resignation
Two have now tendered their resignation, now waiting for the odious Prosecutor General Lutsenko to join (and most likely to flee the country if he does)

As the very sharp Ukrainian philosopher Volodomyr Yermolenko first noted to me, part of Zelensky’s appeal is that he offers a way for people who still feel close to Soviet and Russian pop culture to become politically European. This is attractive to many. Since 1991 the main way to head towards “Europe” in Ukraine was a post-colonial Ukrainian identity, centered, like many 19th- and 20th-century national-liberation projects, around language and memories of martyrs sacrificed in the name of independence over many centuries of imperial oppression—an approach that the previous President Poroshenko tried to encapsulate with his election slogan “Army, Language, Religion.” With Zelensky’s approach, one can be “European” while retaining the attributes of late Soviet culture.
This process can upset those who have risked, sacrificed, and staked much on the project of Ukrainian national liberation over the centuries. But it is also potentially subversive for Putin’s cultural model of the Russian world too: It opens a space where you can take the positive associations of Soviet culture and fuse them with a desire for democracy. The great, late 1970s Soviet films are still shown in prime time TV slots in Russia and beamed to Russian speakers in the post-Soviet “near abroad.” The emotions they capture—that desire for values in a cynical world—still resonate. By screening them next to Putin TV’s ultra-propaganda with its sneering, sarcastic tone, the Kremlin has managed to co-opt the wistful yearning for decency of the older Soviet films with geopolitical ambitions: Come for the lovely, gentle movies that prove you have a soul, stay for the spittle-laden current affairs show brimming with hate that satisfies other needs.
This has been the skill of the Kremlin: to own both the snarling cynicism of Great Power Bullying and its emotional critique—simultaneously to own arrogance and humbleness, so the whole rainbow of experiences can be subsumed into one great Russian World of feeling where all emotional roads and cultural associations lead to the Kremlin. Breaking the Kremlin’s emotional geography on all ways to think and feel in Russian, to feel a connection to the past, is an important and subversive project.

"If they ban us from working with China," Boguslayev said, "then the first thing I'll do is fire 10,000 people."
Motor Sich, dubbed the "Czar of Engines" in the Chinese media, has what Beijing wants: It can supply warplane engines and the know-how to one day possibly make a Chinese-built version.
The Chinese, in turn, have what Motor Sich wants: reliable buyers.
...
China is on pace to surpass Russia by next year as Ukraine's biggest single-country trading partner. In 2018, Ukraine traded $9.8 billion in goods with China - a 51% increase over two years and more than double the $4 billion in trade with the United States.
...
A spokesman for Motor Sich said 35% of the company's $450 million in sales last year went to China, making the country the company's biggest destination for its aircraft engines. No sales went to Russia, the spokesman said. Six years ago, by contrast, one-third of the company's $1.1 billion in total sales went to Russia.
"Russia is gone. So I have to be in China now," Boguslayev said.
...
In the southwestern Chinese city of Chongqing, Motor Sich and Beijing Skyrizon in 2017 agreed to jointly build a plant to service and manufacture aircraft engines. The Chinese partners offered to build a small town in which Ukrainian engineers would feel at home, Boguslayev said.
"They said, 'Give us 1,000 people,' " Boguslayev recalled. " 'We'll build a church for you here. We'll build a kindergarten.' "
The plant has been partially built, Boguslayev said, but is not yet operational.

The criminal cases opened against former Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko based on lawsuits filed by attorney Andrei Portnov could carry weight in court, Director of the State Investigative Bureau Roman Truba said, as cited by TASS.
"Lawsuits concerning crimes are registered automatically, this is what the law requires," he said, as cited by the Ukrainian News Agency. "I can't talk about the conclusions that investigative teams have already drawn because the secrecy of the investigation must be maintained. However, in my view, given the arguments cited in the lawsuits, it is safe to assume that these cases have prospects in court," Truba added.
According to him, an investigation into the lawsuits is well underway.

In November 1971, Medvedchuk found a job as sorter at the Kiev Railroad Post office factory producing periodicals, and by the start of 1972 he was an overstaffed militsiya worker at the Motovylivka station (located in Borova). Already in summer of 1972 Medvedchuk successfully passed an entrance exam to the Law School of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, however was not admitted. On 12 September 1972 he was enrolled in the University by the Rector's order #445, based on the authorization from the Ministry of the Interior of he Ukrainian SSR.[9] The reason for it, in the opinion of Dmytro Chobot, was "a secret cooperation with militia" which was confirmed by the Supreme Court of Ukraine.[10]
...
He graduated from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 1978 as a lawyer and next year he became a member of the Kyiv City Collegiate of Attorneys.[1] Medvedchuk "defended" poet Vasyl Stus during his trial in 1980.[11][12] In the closing speech from the defence, Medvedchuk stated all of Stus' crimes deserved punishment; he also told the court to make sure that the defendant fulfilled his daily norm at the factory where he worked at the time, despite alleged serious stomach problems.[11] In a 2018 interview with The Independent Medvedchuk claimed he could not have operated differently: “Stus denounced the Soviet government, and didn’t consider it to be legitimate. Everyone decides their own fate. Stus admitted he agitated against the Soviet government. He was found guilty by the laws of the time. When the laws changed, the case was dropped. Unfortunately, he died.”[4]
...
In one instance, Medvedchuk paid a "huge amount of money" to the Ukrainian National Assembly leader Eduard Kovalenko to hold a march supporting Yushchenko against his wishes. The march included Nazi-like flags and symbols, and Kovalenko used a Nazi salute in his support speech. The move was meant to discredit the democratic candidate (Yushchenko) in the eyes of Western observers.[22]
...
Activists of Euromaidan allege that Medvedchuk was among the masterminds of the 25 December 2013 attempted murder of Ukrainian journalist Tetiana Chornovol.[30] They call him a "perpetrator" and link his name to the all bloody events of the government strike against the Euromaidan.[31]

The move was meant to discredit the democratic candidate (Yushchenko) in the eyes of Western observers.[22]
...
Activists of Euromaidan allege that Medvedchuk was among the masterminds of the 25 December 2013 attempted murder of Ukrainian journalist Tetiana Chornovol.[30] They call him a "perpetrator" and link his name to the all bloody events of the government strike against the Euromaidan.[31]
...
Russian president Vladimir Putin is the godfather of Medvedchuk's daughter Darina (born in 2004).

Glede na to, da toliko spremljaš Ukrajino sem prpričan, da veš sam pri sebi, da uradna zgodba o sniperjih smrdi do neba.

When Oliver Stone announced at the end of June that he would be premiering a new documentary, Revealing Ukraine, at the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily, not many people noticed. That's not itself so surprising given his slide over recent years from producing acclaimed Hollywood blockbusters into bootlicking hagiographies of dictators with axes to grind against the United States. The only media that did take an interest was controlled by either the Russian government or a certain Ukrainian businessman.
...
The re-use of so many elements from Stone's previous documentary, Ukraine on Fire, screams of a bargain-bin production. In fact the promotional poster for Revealing Ukraine even uses the exact same photo of Stone from that of Ukraine on Fire--and in the same position no less.
...
So is Medvedchuk's star role in Stone's new film simply a reflection of his rising prominence or is it his own PR vehicle?
The fact that his wife, a former X Factor Ukraine presenter with a suspicious history of Russian business connections herself, Oksana Marchenko, receives title billing as a "journalist" certainly indicates the latter. Indeed 112 and NewsOne have been running indulgent reports on the lavish festival, broadcasting footage of Medvedchuk and Marchenko ostentatiously delivering a bouquet of flowers to Nicole Kidman, and attending a soiree with Stone and Domenico Dolce, whose garments Viktor apparently wears exclusively, and who considers him a "friend."
Apart from the Medvedchuk family and President Putin, the other names attached to this film are pretty low-grade. Director Igor Lopatonok (Stone is the star and executive producer but was not behind the camera for this venture) has little to his name than his previous work on Ukraine on Fire, several colorized remasters of Soviet-era films and a quantity of real-estate videos. Lopatonok demonstrated either spectacular ignorance or mendacity regarding one of his subjects when he recently claimed on Facebook that Putin was never an agent of the KGB, something the Russian president has often publicly reminisced about.
The other "stars" listed on the film's IMDB page are Ivan Katchanovski, an academic promoting conspiracy theories claiming that the protesters shot dead on the Maidan in 2014 were the victims of a "false flag" operation, and Lee Stranahan, an American host on the Russian state-owned Radio Sputnik and former Breitbart journalist. Stranahan was profiled in a 2016 New York Times piece for his role in spreading racially charged misinformation around the yogurt company Chobani in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Revealing Ukraine will receive its public premiere on Medvechuk's 112 channel on July 13, with Russian state media already highlighting choice, if rather boring, lines from Stone's interview with Putin. At Taormina, the film received the Best Documentary prize, despite the presence of Stone on the festival's feature film competition jury. This whole affair looks sordid for Stone, who has for some time gone out of his way to bat for any regime as long as they are an opponent of the United States, but had hitherto refrained from quite so obviously doing the bidding of a private businessman.

Poznam točno to zgodovino, sedaj pa primerjaj to s 300 letno zgodovino US in hitro prideš do enega zaključka. US so pač warmongering nation, že od mladih nog jim vbijajo v glavo, da so večvredni od ostalih in potem se to odraža v njihovi zunanji politiki. Militarizem je prisoten na vseh možnih športnih, kulturnih,...dogodkih. To je en del, drugi pa jasno, da je kapitalizem zabredel tako globoko, da je vojna dober biznis. Russian conquest of Siberia @ Wikipedia
(...)In the 1690s, smallpox epidemics reduced Yukagir numbers by an estimated 44 percent. The disease moved rapidly from group to group across Siberia.
...
At the hands of people such as Vasilii Poyarkov in 1645 and Yerofei Khabarov in 1650 some peoples, including the Daur, were slaughtered by the Russians. 8,000 out of a previous population of 20,000 in Kamchatka remained after being subjected to half a century by Cossacks.
...
The second time he came, the Daurs decided to do battle against the Russians instead but were slaughtered by Russian guns.[9] In the 17th century, indigenous peoples of the Amur region were attacked by Russians who came to be known as "red-beards".[10]
In the 1640s the Yakuts were subjected to murderous expeditions during the Russian advance into the land near the Lena river, and on Kamchatka in the 1690s the Koryak, Kamchadals, and Chukchi were also subjected to this by the Russians according to Western historian Stephen Shenfield.[11] When the Russians did not obtain the demanded amount of yasak from the natives, the governor of Yakutsk, Piotr Golovin, who was a Cossack, used meat hooks to hang the native men. In the Lena basin, 70% of the Yakut population declined within 40 years, rape and enslavement were used against native women and children in order to force the natives to pay the Yasak.[8][better source needed]
...
In Kamchatka the Russians savagely crushed the Itelmens uprisings against their rule in 1706, 1731, and 1741, the first time the Itelmen were armed with stone weapons and were badly unprepared and equipped but they used gunpowder weapons the second time. The Russians faced tougher resistance when from 1745–56 they tried to exterminate the gun and bow equipped Koraks until their victory.
The Russian Cossacks also faced fierce resistance and were forced to give up when trying unsuccessfully to wipe out the Chukchi through genocide in 1729, 1730–1, and 1744–7.[12] After the Russian defeat in 1729 at Chukchi hands, the Russian commander Major Pavlutskiy was responsible for the Russian war against the Chukchi and the mass slaughters and enslavement of Chukchi women and children in 1730–31, but his cruelty only made the Chukchis fight more fiercely.[13]
A genocide of the Chukchis and Koraks was ordered by Empress Elizabeth in 1742 to totally expel them from their native lands and erase their culture through war. The command was that the natives be "totally extirpated" with Pavlutskiy leading again in this war from 1744–47 in which he led to the Cossacks "with the help of Almighty God and to the good fortune of Her Imperial Highness", to slaughter the Chukchi men and enslave their women and children as booty. However the Chukchi ended this campaign and forced them to give up by killing Pavlitskiy and decapitating him.[14]
The Russians were also launching wars and slaughters against the Koraks in 1744 and 1753–4. After the Russians tried to force the natives to convert to Christianity, the different native peoples like the Koraks, Chukchis, Itelmens, and Yukagirs all united to drive the Russians out of their land in the 1740s, culminating in the assault on Nizhnekamchatsk fort in 1746.[15]
Kamchatka today is European in demographics and culture with only 2.5% of it being native, around 10,000 from a previous number of 150,000, due to the mass slaughters by the Cossacks after its annexation in 1697 of the Itelmen and Koryaks throughout the first decades of Russian rule. The killings by the Russian Cossacks devastated the native peoples of Kamchatka.[16]
In addition to committing genocide the Cossacks also devastated the wildlife by slaughtering massive numbers of animals for fur.[17] 90% of the Kamchadals and half of the Vogules were killed from the eighteenth to nineteenth centuries and the rapid genocide of the indigenous population led to entire ethnic groups being entirely wiped out, with around 12 exterminated groups which could be named by Nikolai Iadrintsev as of 1882. Much of the slaughter was brought on by the fur trade.[18]
...
The Russian colonization of Siberia and conquest of its indigenous peoples has been compared to European colonization in the United States and its natives, with similar negative impacts on the natives and the appropriation of their land.[21] The Slavic Russians outnumber all of the native peoples in Siberia and its cities except in the Republic of Tuva, with the Slavic Russians making up the majority in the Buriat Republic, and Altai Republics, outnumbering the Buriat, and Altai natives. The Buriat make up only 29,51% of their own Republic, and the Altai only one-third; the Chukchi, Evenk, Khanti, Mansi, and Nenets are outnumbered by non-natives by 90% of the population. The natives were targeted by the tsars and Soviet policies to change their way of life, and ethnic Russians were given the natives' reindeer herds and wild game which were confiscated by the tsars and Soviets. The reindeer herds have been mismanaged to the point of extinction.[22]
