RAM

I made this account just to thank the person above, this method was the only thing that worked out of everything I've tried... his configuration was similar to mine except with different motherboard and different ram brand and I had the exact same issue (as well as others such as XMP profile failing to work)



did as he suggested, removed all the RAM, started with empty, boot...



shutdown, installed one ram, boot, set BIOS to use proper XMP, went all the way to windows, checked that it wasn't reserving half of my RAM (and my XMP is working),



shutdown, installed 2nd ram, boot, set BIOS to use proper XMP, went all the way again to windows, checked that it still wasn't reserving half of my RAM (and my XMP is still working)



shutdown, installed 3rd ram, boot, set BIOS to use proper XMP, went all the way again to windows, checked that it still wasn't reserving half of my RAM (and my XMP is still working)



shutdown, installed 4th ram, boot, set BIOS to use proper XMP,

this time I ran into a problem as the system was unstable... and refused to enter windows properly...

I booted again, set BIOS to use a lower XMP (as it seems it has trouble using it's maximum XMP profile with all 4 sticks),

with the lower XMP profile it worked and went all the way again to windows, checked that it still wasn't reserving half of my RAM (and my lower XMP profile is still working)



As a note:

all 4 of my ram are Corsair LPX Vengeance 3200 8Gb each, they were 2 sets of a pair with the set bought separately so I have a pair of older version, and a pair of newer version (all 4 are the same DDR4 3200 but the 2nd set is newer)



I made sure that the pairs from the same set occupy the corresponding ram slot pair (so 1 pair from the older version occupy slotA2 and slotB2, another pair from the newer version occupy slotA1 and slotB1)



Now I got all 4 working.. albeit with a slightly slower XMP profile than the maximum (it can run at fastest XMP with the respective pair but not with both sets of pair together which is fair enough, XMP profile are not guaranteed to work with memory that didn't come in the pair after all)



and only 50Mb is hardware reserved.... so I have full 32GB of RAM available.
