STMicroelectronics quits PC Graphics

STMicroelectronics has announced that it is withdrawing from the PC Graphics Accelerator IC market and is currently seeking a buyer for the related assets and activities of its PC Graphics business, which accounted for approximately $15 million of ST's $6.36 billion revenues in 2001.

As is known STMicroelectronics manufacturers graphics processors that are based on PowerVR technologies and are known as KYRO and KYRO II. With the selling of the division it will be a question of life and death for the KYRO chips.

Let us wait for the comments of PowerVR and Imagination Technologies representative. All we know now is that a company sells it subdivision. Who is going to buy it? It is a big question...
