This offer of "scholarships" to American University students "interested in diplomacy" is significant. American University attracts top students from all across the world, many of who will pursue careers in government. Mifsud's offer thus represents intelligence recruitment 101: target government-career focused students, get them abroad and then recruit them. I bet if we could follow the "scholarships" money trail and any students who took Mifsud up on his offer, we would find SVR approaches. As former NSA counterintelligence officer, John Schindler put it to me, "I'd like to know who was paying for all this travel and activities by a semi-academic. Any counterintelligence investigator would have questions here."

Let me say a few things about the Donna Brazile "revelations" if I may. So much drama, so little news. In your head, before each of these points you should imagine me rolling my eyes with ironic drama and saying "OF COURSE..."
Of course Obama left the party in the hole. Could have fixed it, didn't fix it. It was there in all the FECs.
Of course Debbie Wasserman Schultz was catastrophically awful chair. Used to joke "May she reign for 1000 years".
Of course the fix was in from the start. The defining character of Clinton world isn't political skill (QED everything) but rather the grinding power of the apparatchik. She always lacked Obama's messaging grace and thought org, $, and deals substituted. This isn't illegal, or even politically wrong. She had the qwan, they didn't. It was a leveraged buy-out. Don't act shocked when politicians try to gain an advantage in an election. The DNC *wanted* to be bought. In their eyes, both the $ model and their desired narrative ("1st woman Pres" was, honestly, their *only* meaningful narrative.) were met by HRC. Sorry, Bernie fans.
Joint fundraising agreements are common as dirt. This is not some novel HRC-only deal. GOP does it also. *Should* they have had a DNC chair who didn't stack the deck? Of course. DWS wanted to be an ambassador or get a Cabinet gig. She made her bet, and played the Clinton conventional wisdom game to the hilt. Brazile's article has a few new details, but the DNC's status as HRC's catspaw should shock no one.

I've been thinking about these comments Trump made. What a fabulous tribute they are to the men and women of the DOJ and the FBI!
The tribute is, of course, inadvertent: Trump doesn't understand the statement he is making about independent law enforcement. But let's unpack it for a moment. The President is saying that he would like to interfere in ongoing investigations. He is saying that he would like to order up investigations of his political opponents. He is announcing that he is a corrupt actor who does not believe in the rule of law. He is a man who is capable of firing his FBI Director because he will not aid him in these endeavors and to threaten his AG and his DAG and the special counsel over the inconveniences they pose him. Even as I type this, he is tweeting about how DOJ should be investigating Clinton. In these comments, he is announcing frankly how badly he wants to corrupt the DOJ.
And yet, he is "frustrated." Why? It's not because of Jim Comey. He got rid of Jim Comey. It's not because of Sessions or Rosenstein. Lordy knows they have not shrouded themselves in glory. It's because the norm of independent law enforcement—which he is menacing—is actually strong enough to constrain him—at least right now. It's strong enough that he can fulminate all he wants about investigating Clinton and still Mueller does his job, and the FBI does its job, and the men and women of the DOJ do their jobs, and none of their jobs, as our democratic polity has determined them, is to fulfill his undemocratic ambitions to loose investigators on people he doesn't like and to have the Justice Department protect him.
It's a stunning statement of presidential constraint: A president actually saying that he aspires to corrupt interference with law enforcement and can't pull it off. Let it warm your heart. It sure warms mine.

V čečeniji jim plačujejo, da dajo mir.
Nice joke. Ruska vojska je Čečene spravila v red. Celo čečenski voditelji so zdej tesni prijatelji Putina in naredijo vse kar Putin ukaže. So dojeli, da je bolj dati Rusiji mir kot pobirati svinec iz lobanj svojih rojakov.
