Senior Network Engineer (Software Development / DevOps Team) (m/w/d) @ CyberGrid GmbH

We are looking for a Network Engineer to own and evolve the network infrastructure that connects and secures the CyberNoc platform running on AWS with Palo Alto Networks firewalls providing a centralized security layer across our environments. Our network footprint is hybrid including - AWS services, APNs, S2S VPNs and other enterprise connections.

We would need your energy for:
- Design, build and operate secure, highly available cloud networking across our AWS environments — VPCs, transit gateways, VPNs, load balancers and routing.
- Managing and hardening our Palo Alto security layer. This involves close collaboration with the DevOps team on connectivity for deployments and microservices, as well as with the Developer team to understand application and traffic requirements.
- The role also covers network observability and automation, troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues, and continuously improving our network architecture to ensure high availability and strong security posture for our customers.

You have the following qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls (VM-Series, Panorama) or comparable centralized security/firewall platforms.
- Solid understanding of core networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, DNS, routing, and switching).
- VPNs, site-to-site and client connectivity, Zero Trust network access.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards learning and adopting new technologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams — English being the primary language.

Must Have:
- Multi-cloud and Enterprise networking.
- Palo Alto Strata Cloud Manager centralized policy management and logging.
- Load balancers (ALB/NLB or equivalent), reverse proxies, and WAF concepts.
- Containerized and Kubernetes networking (EKS/AKS, CNI, service mesh basics).
- Multi-tenancy experience.
- Genuine interest in energy industry topics (ICT and energy market knowledge).
- A proactive, communicative, and responsible team player with the ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.
- Enjoyment in working collaboratively with interdisciplinary and international teams.
- Excellent command of English (B2 / C1), both written and spoken.

Nice to Have:
- Strong, hands-on experience with AWS networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, VPN, Direct Connect, Route 53, load balancers)
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation and Ansible, and version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for network automation and tooling
- Security certifications (e.g., PCNSA/PCNSE, AWS Advanced Networking Specialty).
- SD-WAN or Zero Trust architecture experience.
- Linux (Ubuntu/RHEL) administration.
- Energy grid and market knowledge.
- Observability tools (Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, Alertmanager, ELK stack).
