Early Stage Researcher (ESR)

Development of a hybrid instrument comprising a vision system for fast defect detection and a focus variation system for 3D topography measurement in an SLM machine. Specifically, the ESR will develop the focus variation system and characterize the system for 3D surface topography measurement of SLM-produced parts (concentrating on defects identified by another ESR). A challenge in the development of the system are certainly the requirement to have a high speed measuring sensor with high metrological requirements and the physical design constraints of the SLM machine. The final hybrid system is integrated into the SLM machine for in-process characterization. The ESR will spend several months at the University of Nottingham to integrate the focus variation system with the vision system, carry out the experimental tests and, integrate and test the hybrid system in the SLM machine. During this stay he will collaborate with another ESR who develops the vision system. The ESR will develop extensive design experience, work with highly innovative optical measurement systems, and work as a part of a leading metrology team.

Od kandidatov zahtevamo

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Knowledge in embedded systems engineering
Basic knowledge in digital image processing is preferential
Experience in optical system design and modelling is preferential
Experience in programming (C++, Scripting, Labview) is preferential
Fluent English, both written and oral
Ability to present scientific work in oral and written format
Creative, organized and self-motivated researcher with strong technical solution finding skills
Good team player
