Our engineers are there for every kick, pass, shot, mouse click and change in the odds. That's 300 million odds changes every month. A data set that's growing by 30TB every month. A team committing at a rate that triggers 30,000 CI pipeline executions a month, to codebases more than 30,000,000 lines long…

We are looking for a dedicated Principal Engineer interested in sports and betting for the expansion of our Managed Trading Services in Ljubljana/Slovenia.

Managed Trading Services (MTS) is a holistic solution that enables bookmakers to future-proof their business. The MTS team comprises the company's

Trading Unit as part of a 100+ strong team of industry-experienced personnel, supported by Betradar's own trading and risk technology. They are responsible for providing bookmaker and platform provider clients of all sizes across the world with all the tools required to differentiate from the competition, improve efficiency and increase profit margins, whilst future proofing their business and securing it from risk.

The MTS team offers a suite of fully flexible turnkey solutions from providing fixtures to compiling odds, monitoring liabilities, through to resulting and settlement.

MTS Key Facts, 170 bookmakers active on MTS, Multiple brands in excess of 300, 40+ geographical markets, 3.5+ million active unique players per month.

THE CHALLENGE:

As a principal engineer you will be leading a team of engineers which will be enabling other MTS teams to deliver business value faster and with more quality.

The platform in team is in charge of:

- providing battle tested development toolkits on which engineers can build business features (e.g. toolkit to create and deploy a Springboot Java service to Kubernetes, toolkit to create and deploy an AWS Lambda built on top of Quarkus w\ native packaging),
- investigating various technologies and their applicability to the problems we are sailing towards,
- helping engineering teams choose the right tool for the job,
- help engineering teams overcome technical obstacles,
- constantly improving CI/CD best practices while listening to engineers about what they are struggling with and what can/should be improved,
- prepare and share presentations and/or documentations about platform tool-kits/discoveries.

Od kandidatov zahtevamo

As a principal engineer you:

- Have 7+ years of experience in the engineering field (preferably focused on JVM languages, but other "modern" languages are also ok).
- Have great passion for technologies, old and new.
- Are proactive and are able to detect problems in advance.
- Are a creative thinker, not afraid to think out of the box.
- Are willing to learn new technologies.
- Should be optimistic, yet grounded, with a can-do attitude.
- Have experience with software engineering best practices (TDD, Contract testing, Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery, SOLID, ... bonus for Continuous Deployment).
- Have experience with distributed systems that are fault tolerant.
- Have experience with k8s.
- Strive to have repetitive tasks automated.
- Have a good team spirit.

As a principal engineer, it would be nice that you:

- Have experience with Linux.
- Have experience with Go lang.
- Have experience with AWS cloud services (Kafka/MSK, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Aurora, Elasticache, ElasticSearch, Lambda, Fargate, API GW, Cognito).
- Have experience with Terraform, Helm, Gitlab CI/CD and/or other similar automation/provisioning tools.
